Meditation During the Pandemic
Below are opportunities to practice together in-person on Sundays, beginning Sept. 12, or via Zoom on Tuesdays or Fridays. Join Us for Meditation. Developing a meditation practice is easier in the company of others. We offer three meditations each week. All are open to everyone and are ‘drop-in’.
A note for Zoom newcomers: Zoom is easy to use. If you’ve never used Zoom, when you click on the hyperlink to join the videoconference, you will be led through a very quick process of downloading a small app or plug-in on your device. Zoom works on a wide variety of desktop, laptop, and mobile devices, even older models.
Once you’ve added the program to your device, then all you’ll need to do each time is click on the link and the Zoom window will appear with a button to join by video. Select the video icon at the bottom of the screen to join the meeting. You’ll notice a microphone icon with which you can mute yourself- so we don’t get distracted by everyone’s background noise.
Every Sunday night, 6 PM to 8 PM
Beginning Sunday, September 12 the Sunday night sitting group will meet in person from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at First Unitarian Society, 900 University Bay Drive, Madison in the Landmark Auditorium. We ask that only people who are fully vaccinated for COVID attend the in-person session. In addition, everyone must wear a mask inside the building. On the first and third Sundays, there will be a 45-minute sitting followed by a talk and discussion. On the second, fourth, and fifth Sundays we will have a practice night consisting of two 45-minute sittings with a 20- minute walking period in between.
In order to accommodate those who are not able to attend in person, it is our hope to also broadcast the Sunday night gathering via zoom using the same link as usual (see below). Please bear with us as we attempt to implement this hybrid style. Check this page for updates and changes, or sign up to be part of the MailChimp list (indicate your preference for notices about Sunday night).
